Livi Llama's Library Adventure

Here is another look at a recent children's picture book commission project that was completed with full-spread artwork, despite a relatively modest budget.

The story features Livi, a young girl who happens to be a Llama, as she experiences an extraordinary adventure while researching a school project.

I worked with the author to design an artwork approach that offers readers an immersive experience, without exceeding her budget. Rather than execute 19 individual illustrations, I proposed 14 spreads. That approach offered me efficiency and the ability to achieve a lavish, colorful look within a tight budget.

A big challenge was figuring out how to accurately convey the look and feel of a large community library within their budget. This is a trick I developed that is better revealed when we talk about your project.
